Evoking Dharma: An Introduction to Meditation

Saturday, 8:45 am – 9:45 am • Presenter: Monica Graves
New Culture Camp

Dharma is the Sanskrit term for "purpose in life," and each of us has been gifted with a beautifully unique set of talents that allow us to express this purpose. Yet even in a community as rich and creative as ours, our true soul's calling for these gifts can easily become lost or muffled in the real world of "should" and "success." In this introductory workshop, I offer simple and basic techniques to evoke this Dharma through meditation. Participants will learn a mantra based practice and a few soul questions to help access inner wisdom... These practices can be used together or alone to help quiet the mind, and find clarity through stillness. I'll also focus on the practical how-to's of meditation to encourage and support a regular practice beyond YOUtopia! Return to Saturday Schedule.

How are we consciously co-creating New Culture for our community, our family and ourselves? What are our shared values and principles? How do we express them in communication and practice? Who are our partners in creating New Culture? What do they offer us and how can we participate with or be in solidarity with them? Is New Culture already defined or is it an open ended exploration? What might New Culture offer for employment, raising a family or for artistic and spiritual expression? How can we use New Culture to unlock abundance, health and satisfaction in our lives?
